Concussion physiotherapists use tailored exercises to improve balance, coordination, and strength, and may also work on vestibular rehabilitation to address issues with the inner ear and dizziness. We approach your mental health wellness with cognitive behavioral therapy, and a neuropsychological assessment to help treat persistent cognitive difficulties, sleep issues increased stress and anxiety levels, mood and behavioral issues.
As even the mildest bump can cause severe damage, concussions change the way the brain functions.
The physical, short-term effects are clear and commonly understood. These generally include headaches, nausea, vomiting, and dizziness, among other symptoms. Symptoms may be short or long term and is unique to every individual.
Less commonly acknowledged in concussions are the emotional and psychological effects, which include anxiety, depression, loneliness, a new fear some experience Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Kinesiology / Athletic Therapy
Kinesiology is the study of human movement, focusing on how the body moves and functions. Kinesiologists assess muscle strength, joint function, posture, and overall movement patterns to diagnose issues or improve performance.
Kinesiology is often applied in rehabilitation, sports performance, injury prevention, and fitness training. Kinesiologists may use various techniques, including exercise programs, posture correction, and manual therapy, to help individuals recover from injuries or optimize their movement for better health and performance.
Sleep Consulting
Sleep Coaching is a form of guidance that helps individuals improve their sleep habits and overcome sleep difficulties. It involves working with a sleep coach to develop strategies and techniques to improve the quality and quantity of sleep, often through behavioral changes.
CBT-I stands for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia. It is a structured, evidence-based treatment specifically designed to address chronic insomnia. CBT-I focuses on changing thoughts and behaviors that negatively impact sleep. This may include identifying and correcting harmful sleep habits, managing stress and anxiety, regulating sleep schedules, and using relaxation techniques. The therapy aims to help people establish healthier sleep patterns without relying on medication.
CBT-I is typically considered the gold standard for treating insomnia and has been shown to be highly effective in improving sleep quality and duration.
